Houston Astros players gathered for a multi-cause fundraiser. Pitchers Lance McCullers Jr. and Dallas Keuchel, along with 2018 American League MVP José Altuve, teamed up for a fundraiser benefiting children’s and animal organizations in Houston. The event raised more than $360,000. Guests included players Carlos Correa, George Springer, Gerrit Cole, Justin Verlander, Brad Peacock, Collin McHugh and Joe Smith. Surprise guest and National Baseball Hall of Fame member Craig Biggio dropped by, along with Houston Texans player Greg Mancz. A popular auction item was dinner at B&B Butchers with Kara and Lance McCullers Jr., Verlander, Altuve and Keuchel. Funds will be given to various charitable causes including animal-rescue efforts through the Lance McCullers Jr. Foundation as well as The Sunshine Kids Foundation, which helps children with cancer.
