This land is our land
Pin Oak Middle School principal Rita Graves (pictured, top row, second from left) led a group of 40 POMS students on a journey. They traveled, under the guidance of Bellaire High School geography teacher Ann Linsley-Kennedy, to study some of the country’s greatest geological treasures. On the adventure, the students visited the Great Salt Lake, Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. The seven-day field study touched on human and physical geography, geology, ecology and biology. Students were able to witness one of Earth’s great thermal hot spots and explore hot springs, steam vents, mud pots and geysers. Pin Oak students worked side by side with Bellaire High School AP students as they collected data for a long-term study on local streams in Yellowstone. This is the sixth year the trip has been open to Pin Oak students.
