10th Annual MLK Youth Parade
More than 200,000 spectators are expected to attend the 10th Annual MLK Youth Parade on Saturday, starting at noon, which will include 10 parade floats and 20 marching bands. See the details.
Junior Derby Southern Showdown Tournament
Experience the world of roller derby in this showdown of the junior team (girls ages 7-17) at Houston Indoor Sports. The tournament will feature six of the highest-ranking junior derby teams from across Texas will battle it out in a double elimination tournament for the win. On Sunday, they’ll play again as individuals in new “mashup” teams just for fun. See the details.
Chevron Houston Marathon & Aramco Houston Half Marathon
Runners will take over downtown starting Sunday morning for the Chevron Houston Marathon & Aramco Half Marathon, which begins at Congress and San Jacinto starting at 6:45 and We Are Houston Runfest at Jones Lawn from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Cheer on friends and neighbors and enjoy family-friendly activities. ROCO Presents Peter and the Wolf
River Oaks Chamber Orchestra will perform “Peter and the Wolf” at The Houston Zoo on Sunday with three different performance times in the afternoon. Free with zoo admission, these performances are part of The Houston Zoo’s initiative to promote wolf conservation and is fun for the whole family. See more details.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at The Children’s Museum
Honor civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and his legacy during the 20th annual celebration at The Children’s Museum of Houston on Monday. There will be lots of special events for the whole family, including a peace march led by the kid’s committee, a rendition of the “I Have a Dream Speech” and more. See more details.
Galveston Restaurant Week
