Mayor Sylvester Turner Proclaims May 20 Boy Scout Troop 641 Day
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner recently visited Boy Scout Troop 641 at Chapelwood United Methodist Church and shared his inspiring story of how his hard work and perseverance - along with the support of his community - helped him on his path to becoming a successful lawyer and now Houston’s mayor. He advised the boys of the importance of always keeping your word and to earn the trust and respect of those around you.
Mayor Turner commended the troop on its 65 years of accomplishments in the community, including the fact that more than 100 scouts within the troop have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and proclaimed Friday, May 20, 2016 to be Troop 641 Day.
In recognition of this honor, the troop will hold its 65th Anniversary and Homecoming Celebration on May 20. Today Troop 641 has 140 active Scouts participating in monthly campouts, summer high adventures, Eagle Scout projects, troop service projects and weekly meetings.
The troop invites all current and former Scouts, parents, and scout leaders to attend. This event will recognize the hundreds of youth and adult volunteers who have participated in the troop over the years. To attend, please register here.
