The Emery/Weiner School seventh grader Elliott Ellis (pictured) was recently named middle school boys’ athlete of the month. Ellis, the team’s only seventh-grade captain, started the football season off strong for the Jaguars. The team has been undefeated so far this season, with victories over Westbury Christian School, Crosby Sacred Heart, Alvin Living Stones and Huntsville Alpha Omega Academy. In the Jaguars’ home opener versus Westbury Christian, Ellis had a passing touchdown and two rushing touchdowns. In the game versus Alvin Living Stones, he had three more rushing touchdowns, including the game-winning score. Ellis also had more than 100 yards rushing and forced a fumble on defense. His offensive talent continued in the homecoming game versus Alpha Omega Academy with four rushing touchdowns.
