EHS Homecoming was Saturday, Oct. 22, and the week leading up to it was EHS’ homecoming theme week. On Monday, the theme was patriotic and many students donned their red, white and blue. Tuesday was favorite team day and the vast majority of students either wore a Texans jersey or one from University of Texas. Wednesday was blue out, and though many just wore a blue polo, some decked themselves out in blue. Thursday was throwback and students wore old t-shirts and a few wore outfits that they would’ve worn when they were children. Friday was spirit day and most of the student body wore EHS shirts from homecoming, sports or the arts.
Unfortunately, we lost our homecoming game to All Saints from Dallas, but the overall spirit in the student section was high. Typically, the theme for homecoming is the theme for the game, but the theme for the game, instead of Great Gatsby Knights, was neon. Though, of course, we were all very upset that we are no longer undefeated, we, as a school, are more motivated than ever to face All Saints again at SPC and win.
Truth be told, homecoming is not as big a deal at EHS as it may be at other schools, but we still like to dress up for the themes, even if we don’t go to the dance. The theme for the homecoming dance was Great Gatsby Knights. Some students wore dresses and nicer outfits, and others had fun with the theme and wore flapper dresses. Usually, the majority of freshmen attend homecoming and only a handful of students from each grade, but this year, it was more diverse, and more students from other grades showed up as well.
