Mommy Moments: Getting into the Christmas Spirit
This past Sunday, my husband Tyler and I took our 2-year-old twins Lila and Cash out for some Christmas fun. First, we took them to see Santa Claus at Bering’s. (Santa will appear at Bering’s this Sat. and Sun., 12-4 p.m., too).
They met Santa last year but they were only 1 so they didn’t have the “stranger danger” radar that they have now. We kept them wrangled as we waited in line, and watched the children ahead of us shed tears or smile big. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when our turn came. Since they are 2, I felt it could have gone either way.
Lila climbed in Santa’s lap and looked up at his big white beard. Cash was a little more hesitant. He was holding a dump truck and wouldn’t let it go. Alas, the photographer snapped the picture without any tears.
After we left, we took them to see a real treat - the incredible Christmas train display in the atrium of Second Baptist’s Woodway campus. I have seen so many pictures on social media and have heard all about it. It did not disappoint.
The twins ran inside to soak in the amazing winter wonderland. It fills the lobby with displays of trains wrapping all around and a tiny little world of houses with lights, people, dogs, sleighs and more. A huge Christmas tree looks over it and two giant nutcrackers. The twins were mesmerized by the display (which is free and there through Jan. 1). Afterward, we went out for pizza. It was a perfect Sunday afternoon.
Wishing you and your family a happy, festive holiday season, however you celebrate!
