Warm and fresh from the oven, giant salted pretzels were served as appetizers at the St. George Place Oktoberfest at Beth and Mike Hatfield’s. In the spirit of traditional dress, the Hatfields were in lederhosen and dirndl, along with Lucette and Richard Rieger. The Astros game was projected on the side of the house next to the yard, and despite all the fans cheering them on, there wasn’t enough brew to console the crowd on the loss. In the crowd were Stephanie Ladobruk, Bill and Cynthia Hutz, Whitney and Bob Morgan, Elizabeth and Kris Hartel, Marstine Stewart, and Barbara and Lee Granniss. German chocolate cupcakes helped to cheer up everybody before they went home and prayed for a better outcome on the next game.
