Aaron Feldstein, summer intern at The Buzz Magazines, played in the Kyle Chapman baseball league when he was in the 8th grade and shares updates about the current KC Titans 14U select team.

The Kyle Chapman Titans 14U select team is on fire. Kyle Chapman, or KC for short, is a PONY baseball league in Southwest Houston comprised of recent SW Houston Little League alumni. The KC boys have been tearing up the diamond this summer, going undefeated in both the Sectional and Coast Region tournaments.

The team has made huge strides since the beginning of practice. In fact, an umpire, who had umped the team’s first scrimmage in May, approached one of the parents after the regional championship. He commented on how poor the team played in that first scrimmage and how incredible their improvement has been in just two short months.

The KC Titans may be undefeated thus far, but that does not mean they haven’t had some nail-biters. In the Coast Region semifinal, the KC Titans were down 3-2 heading into the final inning and with no runners on base they were down to their last out. Grant Stringer, an incoming freshman at St. Thomas High School, stepped into the batter’s box with the game on the line and unloaded a clutch double. The next batter walked, which brought up Adam Montgomery. Montgomery, an incoming freshman at Bellaire High School, delivered a titanic three-run homer that may still be in orbit to give the Titans the lead and eventually the win.

They went on to beat Deer Park in the championship game the next day to advance to the next round. Best of luck to the Titans as they move on to the zone tournament at the beginning of August in Louisiana.
