Solar-darity

They dared – yes, they did! They trekked to a private farm in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, 70 miles outside of Nashville, with some friends from Mississippi. Heidi and Roger Pierce, along with 100,000 other viewers, were in the path of solar eclipse totality at 1:26 pm on Aug. 21. This is the path where the eclipse was complete and lasted over two minutes. Roger researched glasses and found that some pro eclipse watchers use welder’s glasses. They were able to get their eyes on the special #17 green welding glasses from a welder’s supply shop. Although they were in cornfields off a dirt road, they could hear people yelling and whistling and firecrackers going off in Hopkinsville.
