On offense and defense
Emery/Weiner School seventh grader Elan Goetz (pictured) is having a great season. This first-time tackle football player has already scored 12 touchdowns. The touchdowns came from rushing, throwing, receiving, a kickoff return and a fumble return. Elan splits his time between the Jaguars’ seventh- and eighth-grade teams, playing running back, quarterback and free safety. He has had multiple touchdowns in most games, and an outstanding defensive performance in the eighth-grade game against Alpha Omega Academy. Just before halftime, Elan picked up a fumble and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown, and a few plays later he made an interception to help seal the victory.
