Giving thanks
West University Elementary School partnered with Operation Gratitude for the first time to collect items for military care packages. Students, including Olivia Benitez, created a thank-you card for a U.S. service member deployed overseas. The week ended with a school-wide pledge of allegiance around the flagpole. Operation Gratitude annually sends 200,000-plus care packages filled with food, entertainment, hygiene and handmade items plus letters of appreciation to veterans, first responders, new recruits, wounded heroes, their caregivers, and to individually named U.S. service members deployed overseas and their families waiting at home.
