2018 Lunar New Year Bash
Children’s Museum of Houston celebrates the Year of the Dog with new tricks, lion dancers, martial arts and interactive performances, Saturday, Feb. 17, beginning at 10 a.m., in partnership with APAHA
2018 is the “Year of the Dog” with the Dog being the eleventh of all Chinese zodiac animals. The event will include:
- Pearls of the Pacific: Sway to the rhythm and experience vibrant Polynesian dances.
- Mitsi Dancing School: Be amazed as the Mitsi Dance School puts on an pulse-pounding performance.
- J&H Dance School: Experience a stunning dance performance from different Asian regions.
- Lavang Lion Dancers: Watch as lions groove to the beat of the drums in an exhilarating performance.
- Vovinam Vietnamese Martial Arts: Check out a jaw-dropping, one-of-a-kind martial arts demo.
- Plum Blossom Trees: Create your own unique plum blossom tree at Alexander Art Academy.
- Lunar View Finder: Look to the stars and create our own moon viewfinder at EcoStation.
- Dragon Fire Lanterns: Light up your Lunar New Year with a fire lantern at Junktion.
- Chinese Character Banner: Get lucky and make your own Chinese character banner at Junktion.
- Dragon Puppets: Kick off Lunar New Year with a bang with your own fiery dragon at Junktion.
- Origami: Learn about the art of paper folding and create a masterpiece in Kids’ Hall Alcove.
- Lei Making: Welcome the New Year with decorative flowers to wear in Kids’ Hall Alcove.
- Year of the Dog Fans: Try this tail-waggin’ traditional art form in Kids’ Hall Alcove.
