Celebrating Glen Strong
As the anniversary of Hurricane Harvey approached, the Memorial Glen neighborhood, in which the majority of homes had flooded, decided to focus on the good and celebrate as a community. “The surrounding neighborhoods did not hesitate to rush to our aid. Glen Strong became the anthem for all, as people fed us, helped us save possessions, mucked out our homes, babysat our children and even celebrated our accomplishments along the way,” said Shannon Robinson. “Without amazing neighbors and compassionate strangers, we could not have made it through that devastating event and the challenging year that followed.” Neighbors gathered in the Fawnlake cul-de-sac for live music, snow cones, barbecue, face painting, bounce houses, toys and tools from Houston Community Toolbank, made possible by neighborhood sponsors.
