Helping children with cancer

The Dream & Promise Awards dinner at River Oaks Country Club celebrated two medical leaders who are making a difference in the lives of children with cancer. The Angel Honoree was Dr. David G. Poplack, and the Medical Honoree was Dr. Howard L. Weiner; both are physicians at Texas Children’s Hospital. Chairs were Donna Chapman and daughters Emily Van Houtan and Donna Kurka, and honorary chairs were Sydney and Don Faust and Marita and JB Fairbanks. Deborah Duncan emceed. Spotted in the crowd were Cora Sue and Harry Mach, Diane Lokey Farb, Elsie and Les Eckert, Dr. Daniel Yoshor, Lida and Dr. Abraham Thomas, Cat and Matt Hennessey, Lesha Elsenbrook, Bobbie Nau, Tena and Tyson Faust, Flo McGee, Donna and Robert Stokes, and chairman of the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation Lionel Leventhal. Proceeds went to the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation and Texas Children’s Hospital.
