Houston Greek Fest
Experience the food, music and entertainment of Hellenic culture at the Houston Greek Fest! Offering the finest Greek foods/pastries, exciting cultural dance performances, tours of St. Basil the Greek Orthodox Church and various vendors, there’s something for the whole family at this weekend-long event.
Galveston Island Beach Revue
Drive down to Galveston on Friday or Saturday to check out the 11th annual Galveston Island Beach Revue, a festival that resurrects old summer activities such as the Pageant of Pulchritude and Splash Day. You can enjoy vintage-inspired music, a classic car show and the main event — the Bathing Beauties Contest. The event is both free and family-friendly!
Silent Film/Live Music at Discovery Green
Enjoy an evening of classic arts at Discovery Green on Friday or Saturday evening, when Houston ensemble Two Star Symphony will perform their original score to the silent film Girl Shy. Dress in your best 1920s attire to participate in a costume contest, with the chance to win gift cards to The Grove and dance lessons with Dance Houston. The event is free to attend.
Holocaust Museum Houston’s NEXTGen’s Yoga and Art in the Park
Start your Saturday morning with a peaceful yoga session in the beautiful Molly Ann Smith Plaza at Hermann Park. Holocaust Museum Houston’s young professional group, NEXTGen, is hosting this yoga event, which will be followed by a docent-led tour of Coexistence, an outdoor art exhibition originally created by the Museum on the Seam in Jerusalem.
Bellaire Recycling Event
Help protect the environment while getting rid of some of your old equipment at this Bellaire recycling event at Condit Elementary School on Saturday. The Bellaire Environmental Sustainability Board will be accepting scrap metal, small household appliances, computer equipment and stereos, and you can also bring any confidential papers you’d like to have shredded.
10th Annual Children’s Book Celebration
Join the Houston Public Library on Saturday for the 10th Annual Children’s Book Celebration, offering a day of free activities including author presentations, interactive presentations, demonstrations and more!
Pull for Puppies Dog Walk and Pet Festival
Whether you are a puppy owner or an aspiring one, head to CITYCENTRE plaza on Saturday for this pet festival! Enjoy a dog walk and parade around CITYCENTRE, a tug-of-war tournament, face painting, an adoption station and more.
Turn Up with Your Pup
For even more puppy time, you can also head to EaDo on Saturday afternoon for this free community event benefitting the Houston SPCA! Enjoy a drink and some games while your pup spends some time in the puppy pool and makes new puppy pals. Pets for adoption will also be on-site, so all pet lovers are welcome!
