If you love dogs, don’t miss this show next year. Paula Howe has volunteered for the Houston World Series of Dog Shows for 30 years. There’s something for everyone. Show chair Tom Pincus was proud of new competitions devoted entirely to rescues, “Groomers to the Rescue” contest and “Houston’s Rescues Have Talent.” Best of Tricks, Butt Wiggler, Vocalist, Cutest in a Costume and Dog & Owner Look-Alikes were the categories. Cori and Savannah White and Aussie-Chihuahua mix Waco were dog-gone happy. One of the busiest rescue booths, PugHearts of Houston, kept Tamara Adkins and Barbara Tripp wagging their tails for the enthusiastic crowd. Susan Chapman’s Pomeranian, Ariel, was disguised as Spider Dog. Seven year old Emme Schoffer, aka Crocodile Hunter daughter and Jungle Girl conservationist Bindi Irwin, with her dog Cookie Monster, won the grand prize costumes. Her parents, Sarah and Steve Schoffer, are still howling.
