Winning with Arabians
St. Cecilia Catholic School sixth grader Ashlyn Koy (pictured) celebrates with Arabian horse LL Casanova Bey, after winning the U.S. Reserve National Championship in Arabian Hunter Pleasure Walk/Trot, 10 and Under, in Oklahoma City. She has also earned two national championships and six national top-10 finishes. Riding and competing on Arabian horses runs in Ashlyn’s family. Her mother, Gabrielle Sitomer, and her aunts are former competitors, and Ashlyn carries on the tradition. During the school year Ashlyn rides twice a week, and during the summer she spends four days each week at the barn to prepare for competition. She is getting ready to move up to the 13 and Under division, where she will have new skills to master.
