Houston’s Galleria area is about to get its fix of “Damn Good Tacos,” as Torchy’s Tacos prepares to open a new outpost in the neighborhood this week.

The new location, situated in the Tanglewood Court Shopping Center at 5885 San Felipe St., officially opens for business on Wednesday, Dec. 11, but guests can get a sneak peek at a grand opening event on Monday, Dec. 9, 5-8 p.m. Then, visitors can enjoy free food, drinks and entertainment from the Texas-born taco chain, which launched in Austin in 2006 as a food trailer and has since become a local favorite.

A Torchy’s representative  shared that the new location features a unique design and décor and that the 3,200-square-foot space will include a full-service bar where customers can enjoy beer, margaritas and other signature cocktails.

“This location made a lot of sense for us in Houston proper, given its proximity to shopping and entertainment attractions in addition to many local businesses,” the representative wrote in an email. “Plus, being so close to the Galleria mall makes us accessible to locals and visitors alike.”

Torchy’s CEO G.J. Hart recently announced plans to open 100 new locations in the next five years, including an additional Houston location in Memorial City Mall slated to open in summer 2020. The taco joint – whose popular menu items include the fried-chicken packed Trailer Park and vegetarian favorites such as the Fried Avocado – currently has more than 60 locations across Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado and Arkansas. The new Galleria location will mark the 16th Houston-area location, opening four months after the launch of the West University location.

The new location will be open Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.-10 p.m., Friday, 7 a.m.-11 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sunday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
