She ate only fresh foods from the farm when growing up. Martha Newton turned 99 in January in Russellville, Ark., where she was born and lived her entire life. She gets on Facebook daily to keep up with friends and family, and her mind is as sharp as a tack, according to her daughter, Jamie Barrere. While she has outlived her high school friends, she is fortunate to have younger ones. At the private dinner were her children and their spouses, Jamie and Clem Barrere, John and Susan Newton, and Bliss and Jan Hicky.
