Service projects at home
Typically, summer is an ideal time for teens to participate in community service at local nonprofits. That has been more challenging this summer due to the pandemic. However, there are still ways to help out safely – from home. Bethany Bradley (pictured), a rising senior at St. Agnes Academy, has created sack lunches for Kids’ Meals, collected and unfolded newspapers for Citizens for Animal Protection (which are used in pets’ kennels), and made bracelets out of rope for Interfaith Ministries, which are sent to veterans as part of care packages. Prior to the pandemic, Bethany regularly volunteered at the Houston Food Bank and Emergency Aid Coalition.
