During this tough time in quarantine, I have been very bored. I have been trying lots of new things like stop motion and cooking. I have been doing piano and origami for a long time, but during quarantine I have really gotten to focus on them and get better.
I have been writing poetry for a while. Poetry helps me relax, and it's fun to come up with rhymes that mean something. Also, in poetry, there are not really any grammar rules, which works out pretty good for me. When I write a poem, I have to be experiencing it at the very time that I write it. For example, at the doctor's office, I wrote a poem about the doctor's office. Each one of my poems is a different memory.
Something that has been especially weird during quarantine is how everything is virtual. For example, my choir met online, which is problematic because sometimes the audio gets choppy. During quarantine, I am trying to make the best of what I can and have fun and occupy myself. I hope that when people read this poem they will remember that we are all going through the same struggles and we are all in this together.
Quarantine
No school / This has got to rule
Well I guess not / That was just what I thought
Stuck at home / Not allowed to roam.
Everyone outside walking / 6 feet talking.
Masks are being sewed / No one driving on the road.
Learning how to cook / Finally some time to read a book
Cutting your own hair / I can't find toilet paper anywhere.
So bored / Hey, I learned how to play B chord!
No classes / Life passes
Lots of people are doing exercise / And of course learning to sanitize
In this hard time we have to be each other's light / We will stand tall and put up a fight.
We will be strong / No matter how long.
It will take grit / But we will beat it.
If we stay as a community / Soon we will have immunity!
