Teaching through story

Retired school teacher Kathy Cire recently published her second children’s book, Bentley Goes North. She wrote and illustrated the new book that tells the story of a bully who discovers that although people come from different walks of life, everyone can learn to get along. Kathy’s inspiration came from the divisive rhetoric in our nation today, and she hopes children will enjoy the book’s lessons of love, joy, and empathy. In 2018, Kathy wrote her first book, The Magnificent Garden, as a way to help families with the grieving process of losing a child. The book honors her grand-niece who passed away from meningitis the week before her first birthday. Teaching was one of Kathy’s greatest joys, and although she has retired, she hopes to continue to reach children through her books.
