Friday Night Lecture: How to encourage ourselves: Buddhist stories that help us gain confidence
Sometimes we get discouraged. Yup, everyone faces this obstacle and because of this we all need ways to encourage ourselves. Sure, we can call friends and ask them to be our cheerleader or give us a swift kick in the caboose. While friends are great, they can’t always be there for us.
But, if we know how to deal with discouragement and if we know how to encourage ourselves, then we will be much more successful in accomplishing all of our goals. That is definitely something we all want!
In this special series of classes we are going to look at some of the greatest examples of encouragement and perseverance. Hearing these stories will inspire us to follow the examples.
Everyone welcome. If you see a topic you like, drop in for that class or you can attend the whole series.
May 14– Unrelenting effort, the story of Asanga
Asanga’s story is an epic tale of overcoming the inner demon of discouragement (with a little help from the Buddhas). When we hear his story, we can better understand how to rise up above any laziness or discouragement we might have and accomplish our goal.
