After last year’s Hats, Hearts & Horseshoes event benefiting Bo’s Place was canceled due to the pandemic, the more than 250 supporters were especially excited to dress in their Derby best for this year’s soiree at the Houston Polo Club. Guests sipped on mint juleps, participated in a racing-wall raffle, and bought roses for friends. Multiple large screens gave a perfect view to watch the race. Chairs Alissa and Kevin Maples, Millette and Haag Sherman, and Christie and Mark Sullivan, along with honorary chairs Paige Fertitta, Megan and Luke Hotze, Hannah and Cal McNair, Hallie Vanderhider, and Kelli and John Weinzierl, were thrilled to raise more than $280,000. Bo’s Place, a non-profit bereavement center, provides support and community to those who have experienced the death of a loved one.
