Happy Friday! Check out these exciting events happening this weekend. And Go 'Stros!
Astros vs. Red Sox
The Astros are headed to their fifth consecutive ALCS appearance. Cheer on the Astros as they take on the Red Sox at Minute Maid on Friday at 7:07 p.m. and Saturday, 3:20 p.m. They face the Red Sox in the first two games of the seven-game series. See the schedule here. If the Astros win this series, they head to the World Series. Go ‘Stros!
Jazzy Series Spectacular
On Friday evening at Discovery Green, Mavis Staples is joined by Kinder HSPVA graduate Marcos Varela in an evening of live music. This event is free and open to the public.
Tuba Skinny
On Friday night at Miller Outdoor Theatre, Tuba Skinny, a New Orleans-based band, performs. This event is free and open to the public.
Halloween "Grosstopia" at Children's Museum of Houston
On Saturday, Children’s Museum Houston continues its October programming with Monster Mash, a magic show by award-winning magician Jamie Salinas. The show is included in the price of general admission ($11-12).
Bellaire UMC's Blessing of the Animals
On Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m., the community is welcome to bring their pets to Bellaire United Methodist Church to receive a blessing from one of the pastors. Visitors will also receive a free digital photo of the blessing from Nikky LaWell Photography. Adoptable pets will be there from six pet rescue organizations. All pets must be friendly and either on a leash (dogs), in protective carriers (cats), cages (birds, small mammals), fishbowls, or terrariums (amphibians, reptiles). This event is free and open to the public.
Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival
On Saturday and Sunday, join Nature Discovery Center in Bellaire for the Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival. There will be fun festival games, crafts and activities, food for sale, and, of course, pumpkins. This event is open to the public. Admission is free, but tickets are required for activities, pumpkins, and concessions.
Galveston’s ARToberFEST
On Saturday and Sunday, the streets of the historic district in downtown Galveston will be lined with art vendors, food for sale, and live entertainment. Tickets are $5.
Screen on the Green
At 8 p.m. this Saturday night, Discovery Green will be showing Soul (PG). The event is free and open to the public. Social distancing is encouraged. Bring a blanket and a lawn chair to enjoy this family favorite on the Green.
