Jewish Family Service of Houston (JFS)’s annual LiVE! gala raised more than $2 million. The event, themed “A Sparkling Stars Evening,” was held at the Hilton Americas-Houston. More than 900 guests enjoyed an evening of glitz and glamour, including a performance by Kodi Lee, the winner of Season 14 of America’s Got Talent, an exceptional musician currently being featured at the Luxor Las Vegas who is both blind and autistic. JFS CEO Linda L. Burger introduced some of the organization’s clients, who shared inspirational stories of how JFS has changed their lives personally. This year’s LiVE! gala honored longtime supporters and volunteers Sandi and Steven Wolf, who were awarded the organization’s Joan Alexander Chesed Award, and Aileen Weycer and Jamie Wolf, who were awarded the Shirley and Allen Becker Leadership Award, and H-E-B, which was awarded the JFS Houston Community Investment Award. Joan and Stanford Alexander and Elaine Helfman served as honorary co-chairs. The auction was chaired by Jan Zuber Miller.Funds raised from the gala will support JFS Houston’s programming and services that touch the lives of over 20,000 individuals. The Behavioral and Mental Health Services of JFS Houston has seen a 340 percent increase in counseling requests since the beginning of the pandemic. JFS Houston is a Partner Agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston and a Beneficiary of the United Way of Greater Houston. See jfshouston.org.
