'Tis the Season at STE
Christmas spirit week and homeroom decorating competition is a new tradition for St. Thomas’ Episcopal’s high school students amidst the scramble of studying for midterms.
From Christmas accessory day to the spirit of Christmas to ugly sweater day, this year’s themes had high school students wearing everything from a pair of Christmas socks to full-blown elf costumes.
“My favorite theme this year was ugly sweater day because I wore my Christmas elf romper,” freshman Camille Thrash said.
As a new student to STE this year, Camille has enjoyed every aspect of STE’s Christmas traditions from the annual choir and orchestra concert to service projects to Christmas spirit week.
Another fun tradition getting STE’s high school students in the Christmas swing of things this year was the homeroom decorating competition. Decorating their homerooms with everything from Christmas trees with all the trim to colorful lights to homemade garlands, the high school homerooms competed against each other to win.
Finally after a week of decorating, the sophomore girls won first place.
“I was super excited to hear we won,” Maria Clara Almeida, sophomore at St. Thomas’ Episcopal, said. “Our whole homeroom brought tons of decorations from home, and we made decorations in the morning before class, so I knew we would win.”
