Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services’ 2022 virtual gala, themed “Shooting for the Stars – the Future is Ours!” raised more than $1 million to help fund the cost of charitable care for their residents. The annual event honored the family and legacy of Malcolm P. Slatko, late CEO of Seven Acres, with the Joyce Proler Schechter Spirit of Life Award. Supporters watched this year’s gala virtually via a livestreamed YouTube video and live auction. In keeping with the celestial theme, the livestreamed video opened with a vintage television set showing a NASA rocket lifting off from Kennedy Space Center and traveling to the stars. The video was emceed by Linda Lorelle and highlighted Seven Acres’ mission of providing compassionate care to the elderly and elder disabled. It followed past presidents Judy Yambra, Gary Swartz, and Buster Freedman as they reminisced about the legacy that Malcolm Slatko left over the 40 years that he served as CEO. Pictured are (from left) gala co-chairs Dr. Bob and Sandy Light, president Michael Feinstein, and gala co-chairs Robyn and Adam Burck. Honorary co-chairs were Robert Caplan, Raymond Kalmans, and Marsha Stein; auction co-chairs were Abby Ackerman and Michael Wiesenthal; and fundraising committee included Buster Freedman, Larry Buck, Michael Feinstein, Brad Rauch, Vicky and Michael Richker, Gary Swartz, and Judy Yambra.
