Happy Friday! There’s lots of fun for the whole family happening around town this weekend. And, however you decide to spend your weekend, remember to wear your orange and blue and cheer for the Astros in the playoffs!
ALDS Playoffs, Astros vs. Mariners
Game 3 takes place Saturday, 3:07 p.m., in Seattle. The game will be broadcast on TBS. If necessary, Game 4 will take place Sunday, 2:07 p.m., also in Seattle. Watch on TBS.

The 80th Bulb & Plant Mart
The Garden Club of Houston’s 80th Bulb & Plant Mart is underway at The Church of St. John the Divine. Experienced and beginning gardeners alike will find an expanded collection of hard-to-find and unusual Crinums, Daylilies, Gingers, perennials, shrubs, vines, herbs and citrus plants, including exclusive offerings grown specifically for the Mart from the gardens of GCH members. Special exhibits will include the live butterfly tent from The Museum of Natural Science Cockrell Butterfly Center. Proceeds are used for the purposes of stimulating the interest in and knowledge of gardening, enhancing the beauty of our community, and protecting and restoring our fragile ecosystem. The Mart is open today, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Family Movie Night: Hotel Transylvania
Wear your Halloween best for Family Movie Night at Levy Park presented by Texas Children’s Hospital. This free screening of Hotel Transylvania (PG) on Friday begins at 7:30 p.m. Outside furniture is not permitted; blankets and park chairs can be used. Food Trucks: Hearsay on the Go and Gaspacho’s.
ArBOOretum
The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center hosts its 20th annual ArBOOretum, Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (last entry is 3 p.m.). Bring the kids out for the Arboretum’s biggest family event of the year, featuring fun activities for all ages, including the popular Trick-or-Treat Nature Trail, a pumpkin patch, Halloween market, carnival swings, petting zoo, pony rides, train rides, food trucks, and more. Proceeds benefit the Arboretum’s mission of nature education and conservation. Costumes are encouraged.
Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival
Nature Discovery Center's annual Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival features plenty of pumpkins, fun festival games, crafts and activities, scrumptious foods, family photo ops, meet the animals, and more! Outside exhibitors and vendors will also be on hand. Admission is free; games and activities, concessions, pumpkins, etc. all have a cost. The Fall Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Barktoberfest
Gather your favorite furry and human friends together for Barktoberfest, an event benefiting Houston Pets Alive!. Enjoy local beer, food trucks, a dog costume contest, a vendor market, dog adoptions, and more. Barktoberfest takes place at The Powder Keg on Saturday, 2-6 p.m. Admission is free; tickets are available for beer tastings and separate registration charge for dog costume contests.
Tacolandia 2022
Houston’s largest taco festival returns to The Water Works at Buffalo Bayou on Saturday, 4-7 p.m. Sample a wide variety of tacos and enjoy a DJ, gaming zone, photo booth station, local vendors, and more fun activities. New this year is a costume contest. Unlimited taco samples. Tickets are $35 for general admission.
Oktoberfest at Betsy’s
Betsy's at Evelyn's Park is hosting an Oktoberfest event on Saturday, starting at 5 p.m. Join for live music, a beer tent, food specials, and more.
Bank of America Screen on the Green: Selena
Pack a picnic and a blanket to enjoy Selena (PG) under the stars at Discovery Green, Saturday, 7-10 p.m.
Story Square’s Lit with Families 2022 Texas Family Literacy Festival
Journey to Story Square at Discovery Green on Sunday, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Families will illuminate the wonder of literacy together with all the alphabet magic of Story Square. The festival will also feature great food, face painting, performances from local schools and organizations, balloon art, free books for everyone in the family, reading corners, and more. Readers of all ages will love the Story Square. Free to attend; register here.
NWSL Playoffs: Houston Dash vs. Kansas City Current
The Houston Dash advance to the playoffs and face off against the KC Current for a chance to advance to the semi-finals. The game takes place at PNC Stadium on Sunday, 4 p.m.
