When life gives you pears
Jeannie Gaffigan, actress, producer, and writer of the memoir When Life Gives You Pears, inspired supporters at The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation’s Ladies for Literacy Guild annual Power of Literacy luncheon. Monica Lunsford, Grace Gosnell, Victoria Villarreal, and Caitlin Rance (pictured, from left) were among the 600 guests who listened while Gaffigan chronicled her diagnosis, surgery, and full recovery from a pear-sized brain tumor. Mother-daughter duo Gina Saour and Carolyn Mohsenzadeh chaired the “Blooming with Books” event that featured KPRC 2 news anchors, moderator Lisa Hernandez and emcee Keith Garvin. Guild president Ginger Blanton announced the guild’s successful fundraising efforts that earned $575,000 for childhood literacy programs.
