Event Roundup: New Year's Weekend in Houston
Happy Friday and happy New Year’s weekend! Wishing you all a wonderful culmination of 2022 and start to 2023! There’s lots going on around town this weekend. Here are a few family-friendly happenings:
Children’s Museum Houston’s Rockin’ New Year’s Noon
Ring in the new year at the stroke of noon with ball drops, performances, a DJ, and more! The Children’s Museum Houston’s Rockin’ New Year’s Noon kicks off at 10 a.m. and continues through 3 p.m. on Saturday. General admission.
Sharkey's New Year's Eve Family Celebration
The Houston Aquarium hosts Sharkey's New Year's Eve Family Celebration, including a buffet meal, balloon drop, entertainment, games, and more, Saturday, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Adults: $30.99; kids (3-10): $22.99.
Noon Year’s Eve at CityCentre
Celebrate the new year with a family-friendly party at CityCentre on Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be a DJ, bubbles, face painting, temporary tattoos, balloons, caricature artists, and a photo booth. Free to attend.
New Year’s Eve Concert at CityCentre
Stick around CityCentre for live music on Saturday starting at 3 p.m. Jon David Finney takes the stage from 3-4:30 p.m. and the Mockingbirds perform from 5-8 p.m.
Kemah Boardwalk's New Year's Eve Celebration
Celebrate New Year's Eve at Kemah Boardwalk with fireworks, entertainment, and more! Enjoy live music, 1-5 p.m.; a kids craft corner, DJ, and stiltwalker, 2-6 p.m.; a kid’s new year’s bubble countdown at 4:59 p.m.; and more live music, 6-10 p.m.
Green Mountain Energy Ice at Discovery Green
Enjoy skating around the ice at Discovery Green this season. The Ice is open New Year’s Eve, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., and is open New Year’s Day, 1-7 p.m. Admission: $17, skate rental included.
Houston Rockets vs. New York Knicks
Spend the last day of 2022 at Toyota Center rooting for the Rockets. The game starts at 6 p.m. Rockets - The official site of the NBA for the latest NBA Scores, Stats & News. | NBA.com
Sugar Land Holiday Lights
The 9th annual Sugar Land Holiday Lights, featuring more than three million lights, 10 themed areas, and more, continues through Jan. 1. New Year’s Eve festivities includes midnight fireworks. There’s an option to enjoy NYE Ball.
Zoo Lights
Stroll around the beautifully lit, festive Zoo Lights experience. Open all weekend. The Zoo Lights season is coming to a close Jan. 8.
Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Texans take on the Jaguars on New Year’s Day, 12 p.m.
Polar Bear Pool Party
On New Year’s Day, Colonial Pool in West U will be open for swimming for neighbors who are brave enough to endure the chilly temps! The second annual Polar Bear Pool Party takes place at Colonial Park Pool on Sunday, 1-3 p.m. There will also be poolside treats. Free for Colonial Pool members; West U residents who aren’t members: $6; non-residents guests: $12. West U residents must accompany guests.
