The Children’s Texas Art Festival celebrates art—created by and for children—that helps forge a connection to Texas and American heritage.
Highlights:
- Artisan demonstrations by painter Joseph Dixon, the Houston Area Blacksmith Association, and Raum Furniture
- Music by guitar, banjo, and gourd player JAWAD
- Interactive play and learning at “Texas History Encounters,” hosted by Archaeology Now
- Drumming, dancing, and tribal art with Calmecac Indigenous Organization
- Creating fiber art in a drop-in workshop with teaching artist Deanna Santiago
- Classical music by a trio from Monarch Chamber Players
- Playing “Deep in the Heart of Texas” on diatonic bells
- Discovery activities in the historic house about the lives of children in the 1600s to 1800s
