Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers
Root for the ‘Stros as they take on the Texas Rangers at Minute Maid this weekend. Games take place tonight, 7:10 p.m.; Saturday, 6:10 p.m., and Sunday, 6:08 p.m.
2023 Tall Ships Galveston Festival
The 2023 Tall Ships Galveston festival hosts tours of participating ships, numerous special events, sail-away excursions, music, food, and fun in a family-friendly format. Galveston Island serves as one of three ports for the Tall Ships Challenge Gulf Coast 2023 Series, which features a fleet of ships traveling across the Gulf of Mexico as they visit other participating cities. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday-Sunday. Read more about it here.
West U Outdoor Event Series
City of West University Place is holding its Outdoor Event Series at Colonial Park with family-friendly events. Tonight, Houston Brass Quintet performs, 7-8 p.m. Signing and dancing along is encouraged.
Race for the Dome
The Astrodome Conservancy hosts its third annual Race for the Dome benefiting the Astrodome Conservancy. This year’s event features a 5K road race and a Kids 1K fun run. Dress in your vintage gear and hang out after the race to celebrate the Astrodome’s 58th birthday. The run takes place on Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
The Friends of the Bellaire Library’s Spring Book Sale
The Friends of the Bellaire Library's Spring Book Sale will be held Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Bellaire Fire Station. Browse through books inside the designated fire station bays indoors. Held twice each year, the book sales are the major fundraisers for the Friends and proceeds benefit the City of Bellaire’s Library.
36th Annual Houston Art Car Festival & Parade
The Orange Show’s 36th Annual Houston Art Car Parade will showcase more than 250 mobile masterpieces from across the country, including nearly 100 new, never-been-seen creations. The parade is one of the city’s largest free public events, drawing hundreds of thousands of curious spectators. Saturday’s schedule includes a Lineup Party starting at 11 a.m. on Allen Parkway at Heiner Street – peruse all 250+ art cars as they get ready for parade and enjoy live music, food trucks, games, and more. The H-E-B Kids Creative Zone also kicks off at 11 a.m. at Sam Houston Park, including a range of creative activities for families. The parade officially begins at the intersection of Dallas and Bagby Streets (on Allen Parkway) heading into Downtown before circling City Hall and heading outbound onto Allen Parkway out of Downtown until dispersing at Waugh Drive. As always, the parade is free to attend. Attendees are encouraged to arrive at the parade route early to secure their spot.
15th Annual Margarita Taste-Off
Calling all margarita lovers! The Candlelighters’ Young Professional group presents the 15th Annual Margarita Taste-Off hosted by Kirby Ice House on Saturday, 1-5:30 pm. Sip, sample, and vote on your favorite margaritas from some of Houston’s best restaurants. The event includes a tequila tasting station, DJ, and silent auction. Light bites and drink tickets for beer and wine are included with purchase of tickets ($100). Proceeds benefit Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance.
Run for the Rose
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, Run for the Rose supports brain cancer research and pediatric initiatives, recognizes brain tumor survivors, and remembers loved ones lost to this devastating disease. Race day activities include a 5K, Family 1K and a post-race party. The event, which takes place at University of Houston, includes a Survivor Stroll at 8 a.m., 5K at 8:15 a.m., Family 1K at 9 a.m., and award ceremony at 9:15 a.m.
