Happy Friday! We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you’re settling in for a fun, relaxing weekend with family and friends. In case you’re looking to make weekend plans, here are some happenings around town:
49th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival
It's the last weekend of the Texas Renaissance Festival. This weekend is themed Celtic Christmas. If you haven't traveled back in time to the Renaissance era this season, be sure to check it out while you can. The festival is open today, Saturday, and Sunday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. each day. Tickets are date-specific, so visit the website to see more.
Great Gobbler Thanksgiving WonderWeek at Children's Museum Houston
There are lots of themed, family-friendly events at Children’s Museum Houston this week. Today is Thanksgiving with Santa, including a “Changing of the Seasons Ceremony,” along with a Santa & Elf Meet and Greet. On Saturday, there will be a Grinch-inspired DJ and games. On Sunday, there will be a poetry and dance workshop. The museum is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day and tickets include general admission pricing.
Black Friday Holiday Flea 2023
The annual Black Friday Holiday Flea takes place inside Silver Street Studios this weekend, Friday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Shop a curated market of one-of-a-kind collectibles, jewelry, vintage, art, mid-century modern furniture, original designs, full bar, local food. General admission is $5; kids 12 and under are free.
Family Movie Night: The Nightmare Before Christmas
Families are invited to join at Levy Park at 7 p.m. tonight for a free screening of the beloved holiday film, The Nightmare Before Christmas (PG), presented by Texas Children’s. Outside furniture is not permitted; blankets and the park’s chairs can be used.
Houston Rockets vs. Denver Nuggets
The Rockets take on the Nuggets tonight at Toyota Center at 7 p.m., as part of the inaugural In-Season Tournament. Tickets start at $30.
Houston Ballet Presents The Nutcracker
The Houston tradition continues with Stanton Welch’s The Nutcracker, which kicks off tonight with a 7:30 p.m. show. The production continues through Dec. 27 at the Wortham Theater Center. Tickets start at $30.
Holiday in the Plaza
Visit with Santa and two of his reindeer at CityCentre during Holiday in the Plaza presented by Sewell Cadillac on Saturday, 12-5 p.m. Santa will kick off the festivities when he arrives in his Sewell Cadillac at 12 p.m. to spread holiday cheer and pose for pictures. Dance along to holiday classics with the Houston Show Choir at 1, 3:30, and 5 p.m. Help fill up Santa’s Cadillac with new, unwrapped toys to be donated in exchange for a complimentary picture with Santa.
Bellaire Open Air Market
Evelyn's Park hosts Bellaire Open Air Market on Sunday, 12-4 p.m. Shop arts, crafts, and food from local artisans. Enjoy a free penguin craft underneath the trevilion on Bellaire Blvd. Free to attend.
Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Houston Texans take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at NRG Stadium, Sunday, 12 p.m. Tickets start t $55.
MLS Playoffs: Houston Dynamo FC vs. Sporting Kansas City
Cheer on the Dynamo as they play against Sporting Kansas City for the MLS Playoffs at Shell Energy Stadium, Sunday, 6 p.m. Tickets start at $39.
