Class of ’64 returns to MHS
It has been 60 years since the class of 1964 (pictured) walked the halls of Memorial High School (MHS), but the alumni say it seems like yesterday. This class of students began their high school years at the old Spring Branch High School before it closed, and redistricting moved them to MHS. Classmates returned to Memorial from around the country to celebrate and catch up with old friends at their class reunion. The festive weekend started with a Friday-night gathering at the Westchase Hilton Hotel. On Saturday morning, MHS alums met at the high school for a tour of the new building led by principal Lisa Weir. Attendees noticed some major changes including the removal of the Aqua wing which was the only wing in 1964 that had air conditioning. They also visited the library to view the metal mustang display that was given by their class 10 years ago. After the tour, the Class of 1964 headed to the Dad’s Club for lunch from a James Coney Island food truck and then wrapped up the celebration with a banquet back at the hotel.
