2024 Fourth of July Festivities in Houston
There are tons of festive, family-friendly events happening this Fourth of July all over town! See our roundup for buzzy happenings. Stay safe, stay cool, and enjoy the holiday with friends and family.
The Runner’s High Club is hosting its annual Fourth of July 5K, which includes an adult 5k run and a kids run (.6 miles). All kids receive medals and parents are welcome to run or walk with their child. The adult 5K begins at 7:30 a.m. and the kids run starts at 7:10 a.m. Adult sign-up is $43 and kid admission is $22. All proceeds benefit the Special Olympics Texas & Girls on the Run Greater Houston.
The City of Bellaire's Celebration of Independence Parade and Festival
The City of Bellaire’s annual parade and festival kicks off at 9 a.m. with the parade, which begins at S. Rice Ave and Valerie and will proceed down S. Rice to Linden. The Children’s Bike Parade will kick off the event at 9 a.m., leading the big parade down S. Rice. Kids can decorate their bikes or trikes and walk/ride in the parade to celebrate. There is no application or charge for the Children’s Bike Parade. If you would like toe b part of the Children’s Bike Parade, please meet at S. Rice and Evergreen. Following the parade, the festival will take place in Bellaire Town Square at 9:45 a.m., which will feature live music, food, and entertainment for kids, including a petting zoo, inflatables, face painting, and more. The event is free and open to the public. There will be food available to purchase.
West U’s Independence Day Bike Parade & Pool Party
West U Parks and Recreation Department is hosting its annual Fourth of July celebration with a patriotic walk/bike parade starting at West U Elementary School at 9 a.m. and ending at Colonial Park Pool. To participate, dress up or decorate your ride and line up in front of West U Elementary at 8:45 a.m. The pool party follows the parade and will end at noon. Free to attend.
Kidpendence Day at Children’s Museum Houston
The Children's Museum Houston is hosting its Kidpendence Day. Kids are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue and participate in a variety of family-friendly activities, including a 21-Mentos Geyser Salute, a confetti blast, Captain America storytime, and a celebratory science show. Kidpendence Day takes place on July 4th, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Tickets are $19.95.
Memorial Villages Independence Day Parade
Memorial Villages hosts its annual Independence Day Parade starting at 10 a.m. at Memorial Church of Christ at Gaylord and Echo Lane and concluding in front of Ecclesia. If you are interested in biking or running, the MVPD Fun Run & Bike Ride starts at 9:45 a.m.
Shell Freedom over Texas at Eleanor Tinsley Park
The City of Houston’s official Fourth of July celebration, Shell Freedom Over Texas, takes place at Eleanor Tinsley Park, 4-10 p.m. Headlining the Shell Main Stage will be multi-platinum artist, Russell Dickerson. Other musical performances include special guest Jo Dee Messina, a trailblazing country music artist, and featured artist Chapel Hart from America’s Got Talent. Following the live performances, the celebration will conclude with a dazzling firework display. Festivities include the Bud Light Bayou Bash’s beer garden, the family-friendly Dr Pepper Flavor Zone, an All American Kids Zone with Lego activities, and Liberty Park, in which the five military branches will be represented. Tickets are $10; free for ages 5 and under.
Rooftop Cinema Club Uptown Independence Day Party + Movie Screening
Join Rooftop Cinema Club in Uptown for a Fourth of July celebration! The party, which will begin at 5:15 p.m., will include Houston skyline views, a live performance of Americana music, BBQ food, and lawn/table games. Following the party, the classic Independence Day will be screened starting at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $45 for the party (without the movie); tickets are $65 including the movie.
Independence Day Concert at CITYCENTRE
CITYCENTRE is hosting a free Fourth of July concert, 7-10 p.m. Enjoy live music, starting with opener Heather Rayleen followed by the People’s Choice Band. The Daily Gather truck will be serving snow cones and snacks, available for purchase at The Moran Hotel tent in the Plaza. Parking is first-come, first-served.
Star Spangled Salute produced by Houston Symphony
The Miller Outdoor Theatre is hosting its annual Fourth of July celebration. The Houston Symphony will be performing patriotic favorites starting at 8:30 p.m. with a grand finale of fireworks at 10 p.m. The event is open to the public and free.
4th of July Celebration on Skylawn
The POST Houston is hosting a rooftop viewing of the “FREEDOM OVER TEXAS” firework show. The celebration takes place 5-10 p.m. and includes cirque performers, complimentary balloon artists and face painting, delicious food, and multiple bars on the roof. There will also be live music performances by the Houston Brass Band and the cover band Alias. Tickets are $25; children 5 and under are free.
