Japan Festival Houston

The Japan-America Society of Houston presents the 2024 Japanese Festival of Houston in Hermann Park on Sept. 7-8. The 2024 festival is timed to coincide with Meiji Modern: Fifty Years of New Japan, which will be on view at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) through Sept. 15. This landmark showcase of art from Japan’s Meiji Era (1868-1912) will provide an enriching backdrop to the Festival.

As Houston celebrates the four remarkable Meiji decades that propelled Japan into the modern era, Japan Festival Houston looks forward to highlighting the rich contributions of Japan’s culture to the world today through martial arts demonstrations, traditional and contemporary Japanese music and dance, interactive displays and festival games.

Japan Festival Houston is an annual celebration of Japanese culture held in Houston’s Hermann Park. Enjoy the rich cultural heritage of Japan with traditional and contemporary performances of Japanese music, dance and martial arts, Japanese/Japanese-inspired food, as well as demonstrations and displays of Ikebana flower arrangement, tea ceremony, origami, bonsai and more.

The event is free and open to the public. Vendors will be charging for their food items and merchandise. Participation in select activities will require a fee.
