Happy Friday! It’s the first weekend in October and there’s tons of fall fun around town. Weekend events include:
58th Annual Original Greek Festival
Fri.-Sat., Oct. 4-5, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. both days
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral
Adults: $8; children 12 and under: Free; Friday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.: Free admission
Opa! Immerse yourself in Greek culture at the annual, popular Original Greek Festival. Enjoy authentic Greek cuisine, live music and dance programs, Cathedral tours, a market with crafts and gifts, and more.
Saint Arnold's Oktoberfest

Celebrate Oktoberfest at Saint Arnold Brewing Co. with two days of fun at the Beer Garden, including high-energy live music from Das Ist Lustig with Valina Polka, a special lineup of German-style beers, commemorative Oktoberfest mugs and t-shirts, and Oktoberfest activities. Wear your favorite dirndl or lederhosen to enter the costume contest and have a chance to be crowned King or Queen of Oktoberfest. There will also be a stein hoisting contest and pretzel eating contest.

45th Annual Festival Chicano
Miller Outdoor Theatre

Enjoy a wide range of Chicano music at the annual festival held at Miller Outdoor Theatre. Chicano music has been historically shaped by many diverse styles such as Mexican rancheras, corridos, mariachi, orchestra, tejano, conjunto, big band, rhythm and blues, country, rock and roll, and many others.
Friends of the Bellaire Library's Fall Book Sale

Free to shop; hardback books: $2; paperback books: $1; adult and children's book sets range from $2-55.
Browse through books inside the designated fire station bays. Proceeds benefit the City of Bellaire’s Library.
Super Saturday: Korean Culture Celebration

Learn about Gayeon, which translates into a beautiful or destined meeting that seeks to bring people closer through celebrating shared passions. Celebrate the Gayeon spirit as presenting partner Han Narea performs traditional Korean dance and all woman-group Dori — hailing from Seoul, South Korea — as they perform Samulnori, a music style with links to village and farming celebrations that uses traditional percussion instruments.
16th Annual Halloween Classic Car Show
National Museum of Funeral History

$10/person; $15/family. Tickets will only be sold at the door the day of the event. Museum admission is a separate fee.
Dress in costume and bring a trick-or-treat bag for a unique trunk-or-treat experience amongst classic cars that will be dressed up for the annual Halloween Classic Car Show. Additionally, browse a fall vendor market and get eats from local food trucks.
Going Yard: Home Run Derby

Sat., Oct. 5, 6:45-10 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m., opening ceremony is at 6:45 p.m., the derby starts at 7 p.m. and concludes at 10 p.m.

Watch as Jose Canseco, Mr. 40/40, Andruw Jones, Rafael Palmiero, Eric Sim (aka King of JUCO), Johnny Manziel, RiFF RAFF, Diego Lopes, and other celebrities and former professional athletes battle it out in a home run derby at Constellation Field. The fun and family-friendly evening will include lots of special guests, including Ric Flair, Amber Rose, Bob Menery, Robert O'Neill, and entertainment capped off with postgame fireworks.
Union Pacific's Famed 'Big Boy' Steam Engine Stops in Houston

Union Pacific Railroad's legendary Big Boy No. 4014, the world's largest steam locomotive, will stop in Houston as part of its 2024 Heartland of America Tour. Big Boy will be on display in Houston at the Amtrak Station at 902 Washington Ave. on Sun., Oct. 6.
