36th annual Accordion Kings & Queens
An audience favorite, the 36th annual Accordion Kings & Queens concert returns to Miller Outdoor Theatre on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The creative team at Texas Folklife is thrilled to announce its electrifying headliner - Sean Ardoin and his band. Ardoin’s music pays homage to his Louisiana roots as he expands the genre with his distinct Kreole Rock and Soul sound. A prolific recording artist, he released 25 Back to My Roots in 2024, a reflection of modern zydeco. The album was nominated for a Grammy in the “Best Regional Roots Music Album” category this year. Ardoin and his band will ignite the Miller stage for an unforgettable evening of high energy music and dance for all.
The Ardoin musical dynasty includes renowned Creole musicians Améde Ardoin, Alphonse “Bois Sec” Ardoin, Lawrence Black Ardoin, and his younger brother Chris Ardoin. In 1999, after fronting the critically acclaimed Zydeco group “Double Clutchin,” Ardoin embarked on a solo career as a singer/songwriter, producer, and television host. He has performed worldwide and has contributed his musical artistry to movies, television, and commercials. Additionally, the multi-dimensional creator served as the host of the docuseries: Amplify: Louisiana which showcases the state through its people, food, music, culture and landscape. Ardoin was part of the award-winning team which received a Cannes Corporate Media & TV Award in 2024.
Texas Folklife will announce the other outstanding accordionists that will share the stage with Ardoin in the coming months.
