Memphis at Memorial

Memorial High School and Carver Magnet High School worked hard over this summer rehearsing and building sets in preparation for a joint performance of Memphis, The Musical. Half of the cast members were from Memorial, and half were from Carver. In this fictional musical set in the 1950s, a young white disc jockey falls in love with a beautiful African-American singer, and the couple challenges prevailing cultural and racial norms. The show took place at the Memorial High School Performing Arts Center in September. Pictured is Memorial senior Nathan Morgan, who played the lead role of the DJ, with Carver junior Sariah Felix, who played the lead role of the singer.
