Congregation Emanu El Sisterhoods Annual Fundaising Luncheon

Thomas Schlamme

Thomas Schlamme

Congregation Emanu El Sisterhood is honored to invite you to this special event which benefits the projects of Sisterhood and the Congregation. Thomas Schlamme, a native Houstonian, visits his home town and is the guest star of the luncheon. Schlamme, the son of the late Steffi and Otto Schlamme, was honored to say “yes” to this invitation because Emanu El Sisterhood was deeply meaningful to his mother and he grew up in the shadow of Sisterhood events. And his father, a Holocaust Survivor, gave generously of himself to both the Jewish and non-Jewish community including Taping For The Blind.

Crediting with creating the look of many of television’s most acclaimed shows, his name is synonomous with The West Wing, Studio 60, Parenthood, The Larry Sanders Show, Sports Night, Spin City, Invasion and Murder In The First, to name a few.

He produced, directed and received an Emmy for Tracey Ullman’s acclaimed series Tracey Takes On.  He directed numerous episodes of The Americans, Friends, Ally McBeal, The Practice, Chicago Hope, and  ER and is recipient of 9 Emmy Awards, 3 DGA awards and 2 Peabody awards.  His feature film credits include So I Married An Axe Murderer, You So Crazy starring Martin Lawrence, and Miss Firecracker starring Holly Hunter and Tim Robbins. His television movie credits include Kingfish: A Story of Huey P. Long starring John Goodman, and Crazy From The Heart starring Christine Lahti.  He continues to develop projects under his company, Shoe Money Productions and is currently executive producer/director of WGN America’s Manhattan.
