Patricia Bustamante
Patricia “Paty” Bustamante is the Chief of Central Services at Houston Public Library’s Central Library. Paty has served in various roles in public libraries for more than 30 years. She began her tenure with Houston Public Library in 1998, first as assistant manager of the former Video Department; then as supervisor of Remote Reference Services; she subsequently served in the dual role of manager of Central Electronic Library Services and Central Library Site Manager, assisting the Interim Chief by handling Central’s day to day activities. Paty briefly worked as acting manager of the Frank Neighborhood Library and worked with the Houston Area Library System (HALS) office where she was instrumental in developing cooperative virtual library reference services for the entire Houston area. She holds two Master’s degrees: one in Library and Information Science and a Masters of Arts in Media Arts from the University of South Carolina.
