D&T Drive Inn
This updated icehouse, near Cavalcade and Interstate 45 in the Greater Heights, is a popular neighborhood bar with a knowledgeable staff serving 50 beers on tap. D&T originally opened in 1959, and the current owners have continued the neighborhood bar with the addition of an inventive kitchen. D&T’s food menu has snacks and sandwiches, as well as daily specials, including Tuesday steak night. I had been told by several friends to try their homemade pimento cheese served with Ritz crackers, so I thought this would be the perfect pairing with my creamy and full-flavored Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro. The pimento cheese possessed the right amount of sharpness along with a slightly spicy kick. On my next visit, I have my eye on the Grilled Brie Sandwich with pickled grapes and ham. With plenty of indoor seating, as well as front and rear patios, and flat screen TVs, D&T Drive Inn could be my new happy hour spot to hang out with friends, watch a game, and enjoy beer and food after work.
