Saint Arnold Brewing Company
No beer-with-food research would be complete without including Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Texas’ oldest craft brewery, on the list. A rich part of Houston history, the brewery’s building is a 1914 brick warehouse repurposed into a party-popular beer hall with rows of picnic tables, a view of brewing tanks and a wood-paneled bar offering beer on tap. Long attracting a large following for tours and special events, Saint Arnold started serving weekday lunches two years ago. I ordered a flavorful quarter-pound Bishop’s Burger, and my server suggested I pair this with their most popular beer, Saint Arnold Amber Ale. The fruity flavor of the beer was a nice contrast to the salty, spiced taste of the burger. Equally as fun as enjoying my lunch in a brewery was the people watching of those who were enjoying a beer for lunch.
