It was more than a Naughty or Nice Gift Exchange – it was Mary Reed’s birthday and a time to be grateful for her friends who supported her through the fire that burned her home. The annual party started in 1979 with church and schoolteacher friends and evolved to include neighbors and Houston Junior Forum friends. Giggles from the gift exchange were heard from Mary Beth Lytal, Kim Mueller, Ernie Palmer, Susan Starling, Victoria Rushing, Paulette Levine, Denise Eckhardt and Joanne Lammons. A few things that were traded more than once were a teapot, towels and a velvet scarf. A particularly naughty gift exchange was lingerie that would make Santa blush.
