One of the most important parts of being a student at Memorial High School is getting into school spirit. Throughout the year there are pep rallies, dancing in the courtyard and spirit days, so I thought that before we start off this new school year, I’d share a couple of ways to unleash your school pride.

Go to football games!
High school football games are the most obvious way to get into the school pride. They are a great way to show your support for not only the team, but also for the cheerleaders, band, and Markettes! Plus, a ton of people go to the games, so chances are you’ll meet someone new.

Dress up for spirit days!
Each time there’s a pep rally or a special event, students are encouraged to dress up for a particular theme that day. For example: Neon Day is the time break out all of those bright colors and show off your style! I’m sure everyone has some kind of neon gear from either middle school or elementary school that they can still, for whatever reason, fit into. This is where you can definitely get creative and even get a group of friends to wear the same thing, so you can all stand out together.

Go to the pep rallies!
This one is also rather easy because the pep rallies are at the end of the school day and almost everyone goes. I always thought pep rallies were really exciting and fun; the band plays, the cheerleaders and Markettes do a routine and there are even games!

Join Mustang Sweethearts!
Mustang Sweethearts is a new club started by one of the new student council members last school year. Basically, this group is in charge of making sure the school spirit is high and powerful. This upcoming year, the Sweethearts are setting up tailgates before the football games and many more cool opportunities to be a part of the community. Come to as many school events as possible!
Football games are not the only opportunity to be supportive; Memorial has so many clubs and sports that deserve a ton of recognition. Whether it is a band recital, orchestra concert, baseball game or school fundraiser, if your friends are involved or you just want something to do, definitely show your school pride by attending.
