Inspired by the final episode of The Bachelorette, season 11, our very own Rumor Has It columnist Sharon Brier threw a dinner party to give her girlfriends and their husbands an experience of romantic reality. The friends she invited have all been married a long time, ranging from 23-38 years (Sharon and her husband, Mike, have been married 45 years).
Before the party, Sharon emailed the husbands that they had to arrive with a special heartfelt poem, letter or homemade gift that would be a surprise to their wives. The men had no idea that, at the party, they would also have to answer questions about their best romantic line or best asset. The girls judged with signs that said either "Hot" or “What?!”

Some of the best stories involved Rich Maloney reading a Mail-o-gram he saved from Sharon Maloney in the 1980's and a Truck Lease Agreement from over 38 years ago that Howard Dyer-Smith read, which had a proposal to wife Vicky in it. Despite one answer about ESPN, all the guys pulled through with high scores and got a rose from their beloved.
