St. Agnes Students’ Winter Break Adventures
Winter break is a time to destress from finals, binge watch new shows on Netflix, travel or catch up with friends and family. To kick off winter break, I went to Houston Zoo Lights with a group of my friends. The lights were great and I loved seeing all the animals, especially the giraffes. I had a fantastic time. Other St. Agnes students also made the best out of their winter break.
Angelina Anderson, a junior, went to Belize with her sister, Isabella Anderson, a sophomore, and the rest of their family. Belize is a contrast to metropolitan Houston because there are no large cities in the country. Instead there are lots of small villages. The hotel was very isolated, which was nice and peaceful. The hotel had complimentary kayaks and paddleboards, so the Anderson family spent a lot of time doing that. One time Angelina and her family kayaked to an island about half a mile away which was fun. They also went on a river tour around Monkey Island.
“When we got off the boat to hike through the island, the howler monkeys sounded like the dinosaurs from Jurassic world,” said Angelina. “It was an incredible trip!”
McKenna Sanders went ice skating at Discovery Green with Maddie Farrell, Megan Fisher and Katie Dessauer, all freshmen.
“Ice-skating was difficult at first but I eventually got the hang of it,” said Maddie Farrell. After they ice skated, they spun on rope spinning tops and got hot chocolate.
During winter break, Camryn Crum, a freshman, went to Carlsbad, California with her family. Unfortunately they did not spend much time at the beach, since it was cold and windy. However Camryn had a great time lounging around and going to Lego Land.
Camryn said, “Lego Land was a lot of fun. It made me feel like I was walking around in a Lego set someone had made.”
As you can see, all these girls really enjoyed their time off from school. Winter break was great and we’re already looking forward to spring break.
