Young Life has been at Lamar High School since 1941, and is a nonprofit organization focused on mentoring students with young adult Christian volunteers. Young Life provides a safe and fun atmosphere where kids can be themselves and have a blast.
“High school is a time when kids make important decisions about who they are and what they believe. And so our adult volunteer Young Life leaders consider it a privilege to be involved in their lives,” says Emily Price, an adult Young Life Leader.
Young Life meets every Monday night at 7:37 p.m. (referring to the Bible verse 7:37 in the chapter of John) at the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church on Edloe at Alabama. There are student leaders and volunteer leaders who help make the club a huge success at Lamar.
During those weekly meetings Lamar students celebrate through song, games and readings. It’s a great place to meet new friends and be part of a fun club at Lamar High School.

Last fall, Freshmen Young Life went to football games, Baskin Robbins, Go Karting, Rice Village and other social and volunteer outings. The best time, though, was when all grades attended the Polar Bear Weekend at Camp Pine Cove, just outside Columbus, Texas.
Students from all over the Houston area gathered to bond, make new friends and have fun in a weekend in December. There were late-night parties, multiple concerts, color wars, water balloon fights, zip lining, sports, prayer club time and funny skits. It was an unforgettable weekend that is a glimpse into what Young Life Summer Camp is all about!
In April, Young Life will participate in the Bellaire Trolley Run with a 5K walk. There are summer camps for first-time and second-time Young Life Campers. There’s even a Young Life Gala scheduled for Nov. 10, 2016.
“Young Life provides a safe and fun atmosphere where kids can be themselves and feel welcomed and have a blast. We laugh, dance, play games, dress up for skits, and much more,” Emily Price, Young Life Leader.
